Rachael Domenica Ray is an American television personality, businesswoman, celebrity chef, and author. She hosts the syndicated talk/lifestyle program Rachael Ray and two Food Network series, 30 Minute Meals and Rachael Rays Tasty Travels. Ray has also written a series of cookbooks based on the 30 Minute Meals concept, and launched a magazine, Every Day with Rachael Ray, in 2006. Prior to the launch of her talk show, Ray hosted two other Food Network shows, $40 a Day and Inside Dish. Rays television shows have won three Daytime Emmy Awards.

I found this place on the Flavortown app. We went for lunch on a Saturday afternoon while in town for business. It was all that we had hoped it would be. I had the chicken and waffles and tomato basil bisque. My coworker had the BBQ meatloaf sandwich with fried green tomatoes on the side. Both meals were excellent.

When the owners of got the keys to what had for 25 years been an Alex's Restaurant three years ago, it was from the crew that just finished the final shift. The Early Bird has built a loyal customer base over the three years it's been open. Most of a group of about daily diners are on a first name basis with all the staff. When chefs and owners Dexter Haigler and Nicole Morris decided to open in a former hour diner they wanted to stick with the low key, low cost atmosphere. The menu is full of standard diner fare, nearly all of it tweaked just a little. The fried chicken comes with mushroom sage gravy or lavendar honey, the fried pork chop comes with roasted red pepper jelly, a breakfast item called "the mess" is a scramble of potatoes, curried vegetables, eggs and avacado slices.
