Sports books for young adults
Not the kind you play in your backyard at a party. But the kind where you run more than anyone on a football field. The kind where you fall harder than in most other sports. The kind where it gets ultra competitive very quickly. That said, YA books about sports are some of my favorites. I love the intensity of gameplay and competition which pairs with the other aspects of being a teenager to heighten a plot.
If you have a child that enjoys sports, there is a good chance they will like at least a few of these. This is the first book in the Crossover series. Basketball is the backdrop for this tender story about the relationship between two brothers and the loss of their father. Young readers might resist the format at first. This book is written entirely in verse.
Catching Jordan is a young adult romance novel by Miranda Kenneally that tells the story of football quarterback Jordan Woods and the new transferee Ty Green, who's also a quarterback and eager to prove he's better at it than she is.
