Translating a tabletop RPG that is generally politics- and story-heavy into a video game is a difficult task under any circumstances. Trying to do this and make a successful follow-up to the now cult classic Bloodlines is downright impossible. Anyone who plays visual novels or ever picked up a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure book will be more or less familiar with the concept: you read a bit, taking on the role of the protagonist, and periodically you are presented with a choice. It might be an action, it might be dialogue. No, really. The entire narrative is told through the UI of a text messaging app, with the story handed out piecemeal through exchanges with friends, mysterious and often frightening strangers, and outright foes. This approach loaned itself well to the pervading sense of creeping horror so integral to the World of Darkness in general.
Perhaps full sensitisation on audiences has taken hold, as any show with a title such as All Our Friends Are Dead would ordinarily suggest something a bit dark, maybe slightly creepy.
