Moving Mountains: How You, God, and Prayer Can Change Things for Good by John Eldredge

Why Some Prayers Work, Why Some Don t, and How You and God Can Change Things for Good

How would it feel to enter into prayer with confidence and assurance certain that God heard you and that your prayers would make a difference?

It would likely feel amazing and unfamiliar. That s because often our prayers seem to be met with silence or don t appear to change anything. Either response can lead to disappointment or even despair in the face of our ongoing battles and unmet longings especially when we don t know if we re doing something wrong or if some prayers just don t work.

New York Times bestselling author John Eldredge confronts these issues directly in Moving Mountains by offering a hopeful approach to prayer that is effective, relational, and rarely experienced by most Christians.

In a world filled with danger, adventure, and wonder, we have at our disposal prayers that can transform the events and issues that matter most to us and to God. Moving Mountains shows you how to experience the power of daily prayer, learn the major types of prayers including those of intervention, consecration, warfare, and healing and to discover the intimacy of the cry of the heart prayer, listening prayer, and praying Scripture.

Things can be different, and you personally have a role to play with God in bringing about that change through prayer. It may sound too good to be true, but this is your invitation to engage in the kind of prayers that can move Gods heart as well as the mountains before you.

Mountains are significant in the Bible. Not only does scripture use them in a physical sense but scripture also uses mountains in a symbolic and prophetic sense as well. In the Bible, we read about many people having encounters with God on mountains tops. Faith that moves mountains. God wants us to expect wisdom. He wants us to expect His promises when we pray for them. He wants us to expect His provision, protection, and deliverance.

What does the Bible say about? Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. All things are possible for one who believes. And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.

Your Faith Can Move Mountains

I AM Affirmations From The Bible [AUDIO BIBLE SCRIPTURES] Faith Declarations - Amazing Grace

Jesus instructed us to speak to our mountain, "For truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be thrown into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, he will have whatever he says" Mark In this verse, He talks about the power of speaking to our mountains and having belief. He instructs us to "say. When we are in prayer, there needs to be times when we are praying aloud to our heavenly Father. The Bible says, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit" Prov. We can talk all day long to people, but when it comes to using our authority and speaking aloud to the spiritual atmosphere and our heavenly Father, we don't embrace that death and life are in the power of the tongue.

Charles Stanley. God is in the mountain-moving business! And I brought him to Thy disciples, and they could not cure him. Bring him hither to Me. And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour. And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

Nothing will be impossible for you. Earlier in Matthew 17 the disciples had tried to cast out a demon without success. Perhaps they had tried to cast it out depending on what they considered their own power. Whatever occurred, their faith must have been in the wrong place. When they put their faith in the right place — in the all-powerful God — then even a tiny grain of faith would be enough. This kind of faith moves mountains and makes all things possible. At times we may feel that we have great faith; at other times we may feel that our faith is suffering.
