The Complete Poetry by Edgar Allan Poe

Im a way too big of a fan of Edgar Allan Poe to rate it differently.

And, over each quivering form,
The curtain, a funeral pall,
Comes down with the rush of a storm,
While the angels, all pallid and wan,
Uprising, unveiling, affirm
That the play is the tragedy, “Man,”
And its hero, the Conqueror Worm.

But even I have to say that there are some of his poem that I do not particularly like, such as Al Aaraaf and The Bells.

However, my all-time favourite remains unchanged. You cannot do better than The Raven.

“Prophet!” said I, “thing of evil!—prophet still, if bird or devil!—

And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted—nevermore!

Before Poe was three years old both of his parents died, and he was raised in the home of John Allan, a prosperous exporter from Richmond, Virginia, who never legally adopted his foster son. As a boy, Poe attended the best schools available, and was admitted to the University of Virginia at Charlottesville in While there he distinguished himself academically but was forced to leave after less than a year because of bad debts and inadequate financial support from Allan.
